Cawthorne's Head Exercise
Exercises should be carried out for 15 minutes twice a
day then increasing to 30 minutes.
Eye Exercises
Movements at first slow then quickly:
- Looking up, then down. (20 times)
- Looking side to side. (20 times)
- Focusing on finger moving from 3 feet to 1 foot away from face. (20
times)
Head Exercises
Movements at first slow, then quickly. Perform with eyes open and then
closed:
- Bending forwards and backwards. (20 times)
- Turning head from side to side. (20 times)
Sitting
- While sitting, shrug shoulders. (20 times)
- Turn shoulders to the right and then to the left. (20 times)
- Bend forward and pick up objects from the ground and sit up. (20
times)
Standing
- Change from sitting to standing and back again. (20 times with eyes
open and then 20 times with eyes closed.)
- Throw a small rubber ball from hand to hand above eye level.
- Throw a ball from and to hand under one knee.
Lying Down
Perform first with eyes open and then with eyes closed:
- Rolling head from side to side.
- Rolling whole body from side to side.
- Sitting up straight forwards.
- Sitting up from side lying.
Moving About
- Walk across the room with eyes open, then closed (10 times)
- Walk up and down a slope with eyes open, then closed (10 times)
- Walk up and down steps with eyes open, then closed. (10 times)
- Any game involving stooping or turning is good
